Community Guidelines

Aware helps people share safety information and evaluate online trust signals. Use the platform carefully, fairly, and with respect for other people’s privacy.

Use the right account level

Free accounts can browse, search, and make limited ordinary social posts after email verification. Fraud reporting, protected-asset registration, protected-asset lookup, and ownership/authorization claims require an approved verified account.

  • Verification is not automatic: an identity or organization review must be approved.
  • Never share documents, passcodes, OTPs, or payment details through a message or call.
  • Verified access may be limited or removed for abuse, deception, or policy violations.

Use an authentic account

Provide truthful registration information and represent only yourself or an organization you are authorized to represent.

  • Do not create fake, duplicate, automated, or impersonating accounts.
  • Do not misrepresent your identity, employer, organization, or credentials.
  • Do not coordinate accounts to manipulate reports, votes, or trust signals.

Report responsibly

Only submit information you reasonably believe is accurate. Describe what happened clearly and attach relevant evidence when it is safe to do so.

  • Do not post threats, abuse, names, addresses, passwords, OTPs, government IDs, or financial credentials.
  • Do not use reports to target competitors or settle personal disputes.
  • Correct or clarify information if you later learn it was inaccurate.

Be constructive

Support, deny, comments, and concerns should add useful context. Explain your experience and focus on facts rather than assumptions.

  • Keep comments relevant to the record.
  • Use concerns for specific, actionable issues.
  • Respect other members, even when you disagree.

Register assets truthfully

Only register a device or vehicle you own or are authorized to manage. A theft-status update is a serious safety signal, not a way to settle disputes.

  • Never use a lookup to identify, contact, threaten, or accuse an owner.
  • Use lawful local channels if an asset has an active theft alert.
  • Do not use the registry as proof of title, product condition, or a new sale.

Trust scores

A trust score is a 0–100 indicator for a website or app. It considers available technical signals—such as secure connection and certificate status—together with relevant community activity. It is not a guarantee that a service is safe, legitimate, authentic, or unsafe.

75–100

More positive signals are available. Continue to check the service independently.

50–74

Mixed or limited signals are available. Take additional care before sharing money or data.

0–49

Elevated caution is appropriate. Review the available information closely.

Scores can change

New technical checks, evidence, and community activity can update the indicator over time.

Saviour accounts and impact scoring

Saviours help other people recognize and report scams. Saviour points are separate from website/app trust scores and are controlled by Aware's servers. Submitting more accusations alone does not establish trust.

Useful contribution

A new unique report begins with 2 provisional points. Public-safe evidence can add 3 points.

Independent validation

The first independent support can add 3 points. A verified member confirming that a warning helped can add 5 points.

Prevention impact

An independently confirmed assisted report that prevented a scam can add an additional 8 points.

Safeguards

Duplicate reports earn no points. Self-confirmation is prohibited, confirmations are counted once per member, and excessive or abusive activity can be limited or penalized.

Saviour levels are Saviour in Training (0–24), Community Saviour (25–99), Trusted Saviour (100–249), Senior Saviour (250–599), and Aware Guardian (600+). Higher-trust recognition may also require a strong validation rate and review history.

Community reports

Reports are member-submitted safety signals, not legal findings or endorsements. Review the description, evidence, and discussion before making a decision. Aware may restrict, remove, or review content that violates these guidelines.

Personal score and profile standing

Profile standing reflects participation and verification indicators intended to help the community understand account context. It is not a financial, credit, employment, or identity score.

  • Verified profile details can strengthen account context.
  • Accurate, respectful contributions help maintain a healthy standing.
  • Private posts and private verification documents are not public profile signals.
Important: Always make your own decision before sending money, sharing sensitive information, downloading an app, or trusting an online account. Aware does not replace a bank, platform, public authority, emergency service, police report, legal advice, or independent due diligence. If you believe you are facing immediate fraud or a safety risk, contact the appropriate bank, platform, or local authority.
